Tollgate Hotel & Leisure is ideally situated for many attractions and places to visit, one of which is the recently opened Discover Trentham, with a unique collection of shops, England's largest garden restoration project, Boat trips, outdoor events and even Monkeys! We are also only approximately 15 miles from Alton Towers theme park, making us the ideal stop off point for a fun-filled weekend.

Many of the local places of interest reflect the Potteries' industrial heritage. The most popular of these are the Gladstone Pottery Museum and the Wedgwood Visitor Centre, both of which trace the history of the pottery industry. A more general history of the area is provided by the Stoke-on-Trent City Museum, which is a venue for both national and local art exhibitions. There are also many homes of historic interest in the area. These include Shugborough Hall, the home of Lord Lichfield, and Little Moreton Hall, one of the finest examples of an Elizabethan manor house in the country. Also within easy travelling distance of Keele are the cathedral cities of Lichfield and Chester. To the east of Stoke-on-Trent lies the Peak District National Park. Its rugged terrain and natural beauty make it ideal country for hill-walkers and rock-climbers.

The main shopping area is a few minutes drive away in Hanley, where the Potteries Shopping Centre is joined by street markets and many High Street stores. It is also home to the Cultural Quarter, which has many restaurants of differing world cuisines along with show and concert venues such as The Regent Theatre and Victoria Hall. Also local to our hotel is the town of Newcastle-under-Lyme, with its daily markets and numerous shops and bars.

Festival Park is an area of retail and entertainment also within Stoke-on-Trent. Home to the National Garden Festival in 1985 it has been extensively redeveloped to home an Odeon theatre complex, Megabowl ten pin bowling, Waterworld water centre, restaurants and many large retail outlets. With so much to see and do you are sure to be kept occupied during your stay in Stoke-on-Trent.
